May 25, 2005Well I Must say that after loosing my wallet on Friday on the way out of town and then having my muffler break off on the drive home that the week had to be better. Well I was wrong, Last night around 7 pm my daughter came in the house screaming and bawling her eyes out. Telling me that three boys had thrown rocks at her thus hitting the funny bone on her elbow and that she couldn't move her arm. After inspecting I noticed her arm was very swollen at the elbow had a scrape and a bruise. It also felt very hot and looked red. I quickly packed her up and off to the emerg we go. Now don't forget I lost my wallet on Friday so of course her health card was also in it. Arghhhh
On the way to the hospital she pointed out the three boys to me. I got out of the car and asked the boys who threw the rocks, of course none of them knew what I was talking about but thank god my neighbors kid was with her and he saw it all. I told them that I would find out where they lived and would speak to their parents.
Of course I know this will be a waste of time, as to most parents don't give a rats ass about what there kids do and alot of people don't know how to be a parent. Im not saying I am a perfect parent because their is no such thing, but atleast I know where my child is and what she is doing. And if she does something wrong I talk to her and tell her what she did was wrong and she gets punished. Most parents yell and scream at you to get off there property while there kid is standing in the door laughing.
I want to point out to other parents that we are responsible for what our kids do up to a certain age. I urge all parents to take responsibility to know where your kids are and what they are doing. I know that we can't be with them 24/7 but at least acknowledge when they do something wrong. These boys didn't care or think of what they were doing to my child even after they were told to stop by another child. They thought it was funny that they hurt her. I wonder how funny they will think it is when I contact the police and file a report against them. Children don't always understand the consequences to there actions but they have a pretty good idea of what there doing. My child could of been seriously hurt or even lost her life because some kid thought it was funny. Unfortunately summer is here and alot of children will loose their life or use of parts of there bodies because of other children. I hope parents who are reading this understand the impact of this post and sit down to discuss the do's and don'ts to their children.
After spending 5 hrs in the emerg, and countless X-rays, they did not see any fractures, but because of the way children’s bone growth is she was not totally sure and to be safe my child has to have her arm immobilized for a week and then see an orthopedic surgeon to make sure everything is fine. So for a few boys having fun throwing rocks at a little girl for no reason, I had to spend 5 hrs in a hospital consoling my hurt child, spend 15.00 on a arm immobolizer since they didn't have any children’s left, and now I will loose half a days pay next week when I take her to see the specialist. I wonder if the parents had to pay me for my losses would they be more interested in what there kids were doing??
